ABOUT US
Neil Whatling founded
Neils plant hire in 1988 with the company starting off with a JCB 3C
driven by Neil himself. By the early 90s a 360º excavator, D8H
Dozer and an 8-wheel tipper truck had been added to the fleet. After
a large sand and gravel extraction contract was given for the A14 construction
project 3 x Volvo articulated dumptrucks were also added. A steady growth
and progression to most of the equipment, regularly updated to a maximum
of five years, has lead to a modern and effective earthmoving and haulage
fleet of some 25 items.
Being fairly small,
the company is family run. Neils wife runs the office and his stepson
is plant manager. Neils plants core business is working for large aggregate
companies carrying out all aspects of mineral extraction, crushing,
screening then land reclamation, and the creation of lakes and wetlands
etc. We also specialise in construction of new cells and capping projects
for waste management companies. We also operate a railway coal unloading
and distribution facility for a local cement works as well as construction
of new roads, car parks and carrying out maintenance of existing roads
for the Forestry Commission.
And finally there
is the heavy haulage and abnormal loads side of the business. We have
also recently started something different with tracked British armour.
Initially a hobby of Neils, his collection of tanks has proved very
popular at shows and events, these are also available for hire.
